Digital Dowland

$15.99$29.99

Digital Dowland contains fifty songs for voice and piano based on the transcriptions from tablature by Edmund Fellowes.  John Dowland’s lute songs are the apex of this Elizabethan genre which flourished from 1597 to 1622.  The transcriptions allow for a more widespread performance medium.

Digital Dowland is available in three versions:  high voice, low voice, and complete.  The complete version contains at least three transpositions of each song.  Digital Dowland is ideal for a voice studio with young singers whose native language is English.

Dowland’s songs are great literature for the vocal studio, particularly with students whose native language is English.  Each version of Digital Dowland has a Table of Contents page that is based on the order of the original printing of the songs, as well as a straightforward alphabetical index.  Both are fully linked to the actual scores (See Sample).  Each song has an embedded midi file that will play when double clicked if your computer has a default player assigned to midi files.  While crude, the midi files give the user a reasonable idea of the song.
