The intent behind Digital Song Collections is to make a large amount of the standard repertory available to students, voice instructors, and professional musicians in a modern computer format for a reasonable price. As such, our licensing is fairly liberal.
An individual license to one of our collections allows the purchaser to install the collection on any of his/her personal devices. The purchaser may not distribute the pdf files to another individual nor may any of the pdf files be put on any kind of network. Optical scans of printouts or printouts to any computer format carry the same restriction. E. g., an accompanist or singer may not photograph or scan a printout to put it on their own device. Otherwise, the use of physical printouts is unrestricted, excepting they may not be sold. So an instructor may freely print copies of any song for any student or accompanist, and those printouts may be used for contests, auditions, etc. with no proof of purchase. DSC wants to promote the study and performance of this music.
A public access license allows the installation of the collection on one computer with public access. Any song may be physically printed from the public access computer. No additional charge beyond the actual cost of printing should be levied. The same restrictions for optical scans of printouts or computer-format printouts detailed under the individual license apply. The collection installed on a public access computer must be properly encrypted to prevent easy theft of the collection. Please contact DSC directly for more information.
A limited access network license, as might be appropriate for a college or university, involves a yearly subscription fee and can be negotiated with DSC.
